The Environment Agency issued a discharge permit of the low carbon water. This allows release of up to 14200 cubic meters of water per day (in practice the facility could not release more than around 400 cubic meters of water per day ) within the pH range 7-10. The permit stipulates measurements are made daily during operation, with pH measured at the point where the water leaves the plant, then upstream and downstream of the point where it enters the drainage ditch.
