Other methods of CO2 removal, such as forest planting and Bioenergy with Carbon Capture and Storage (the burning of wood/plant material in power stations while also capturing most of the carbon coming from the chimney), need large areas of land. This is, and will increasingly be, competing with the use of land for food production. This limits how much carbon can be removed by these approaches.
